Weavy Wonder

You ever notice how people are more free to talk about their hair weave? Remember how taboo it was to talk about your weave in public? Now it’s as common as talking about the weather, “Girl, it’s about to rain, I got to pull out my curly wig today.”

More and more people are proud of wearing weaves or wigs, and I for one, applaud them. I love a woman who changes her hair like it’s a pair of earrings. I say, “Bravo, to you!”

A few celebrities who are proud of their weave are:

Trya Banks. One of the things I love about her is her willingness to admit that she wears a weave. (And sometimes a wig, like in this picture.)  I like how she helps young girls realize that it takes a team of people to look this gorgeous, something that helps us grown folks with our self-esteem too.

Another one is Wendy Williams.

Wendy is never scared to talk about her love of wigs and hairpieces, she frequently talks about how she has a wig for every occasion.  She has a shopping wig, a daytime wig, a wig for working out–you name it she has a wig for it.

So if you’re out there wearing a weave, or wig, please don’t lie about it. (And you know who you are.) Embrace the fact that you are enhancing your hair with hair extensions. People won’t think less of you, they’ll respect you for not trying to pass the hair as your own.

Have a great weekend everybody, my Weavy Wonders and Natural Sisters alike!
