Fun–In the Beginning

I’m so excited to start outlining my next novel. The story’s been swimming in my head for months and I can’t wait to get it out on paper.

I promised my husband that I would rest my mind a bit before tackling my next novel. But really, who was I kidding? I can’t wait to start!

For me the beginning of a novel is the most fun. You’re just learning your characters, the setting–everything is brand new. (It’s sort of like when you helped your mother with dishes when you were little. You didn’t understand why people complained about doing the dishes–”Dishes are fun!” you thought. Until you grew up and actually figured out it’s work.)

That’s how a new project feels to me, pure fun– until I hit a roadblock. Then it becomes work.

Oh well, the life of a writer.
