Never Leave Home Without It

A true Weavy Wonder, (like myself) always has a spare weave with her. If you checked my car right now you would find a plastic bag filled with tracks of varying lengths in the trunk. Why do I carry this hair you ask? Your guess is as good as mine. But I have all my what-if’s covered.

What if I’m out running errands and I get caught in Hurricane Katrina like winds and my weave tears through my hair and gets blown away?

I’m covered.

What if a pack of wild birds attack my weave and use it for a nest?

I’m covered.

What if I’m at a restaurant and a clumsy, soon-to-be-fired waiter, dumps a bowl of chili on my head?

I’m covered.

Hey, none of these situations have happened—although I have been chased by two pigeons in the parking lot of Wal-Mart—but you never know. The only time I have used my bag ‘o’ weave is when I visit my sister at the salon and she had a last minute cancellation and offers to change out my weave. But I still draw comfort in knowing that it’s there—and available to use anywhere. I never leave home without it.

But now, us Weavy Wonders and Wiggy’s can put our bag ‘o’ weave to a good cause. I’m sure many of you have heard that many salons across the country are donating hair to the oil spill clean up efforts. Watch the video of Wendy Williams, (A woman truly after my own heart. Just peep her hair collection!) talking about how she is using her hair to make a difference.

I know most of your stories are on weaves but what about ladies that love!!!!! our wigs? It’s not a put-down of our weave sisters or our all natural sisters, but there are a whole other category of women who absolutely love the wig and the versatilty it affords them. What do you say Ms. Spencer?

  • You are so right! In my mind, wigs are weaves even though I know they are totally different. But keep checking by the blog I will definitely chime in on the subject very soon.
