Here is how my day went.

11:00 am—Arrive at mall. Begin looking for parking spot.

11:07 am—Still looking.

11:15 am—Still looking. Should take this as sign to go home, but no, keep going.

11:22 am—Find parking space. Am ecstatic.

11:24 am—Spend two minutes fiddling with daughter’s coat. Note to self: Buy daughter new coat.

11:30 am—Inside mall. Husband calls to remind me of our budget. “Not a penny over,” he says.

12:15 pm—Leave New York & Co. a hundred dollars over budget. And have not bought anything for husband or daughter. Guilt ensues. Make frantic phone call to husband professing undying love. “How much did you go over?” he asks.

12:18 pm—Sister offers Macy’s gift card to buy husband some clothes. Hoorah! Back in good graces.

1:00 pm—After potty break, stand outside Children’s Place. Pray. Then go inside.

1:25 pm—Stand in line with handful of clothes, two bags, and whining three-year old. Promise her ice-cream if she calms down. Mission accomplished.

1:40 pm—At register handing cashier money, when daughter announces in loud voice she has to pee-pee. Feel tears coming.

1:52 pm—In restroom, daughter refuses to pee. “I don’t have to anymore.” “We’re not leaving until you pee.”

1:55 pm—No pee in sight. Daughter wins.

2:02 pm—In line at Children’s Place. Again.

2:30 pm—Finally leave Children’s Place. Meet sister at Kid’s Foot Locker. Sister has bought daughter 2 pairs of shoes. (I know, my sister rocks!)

3:00 pm—Promise of ice cream delivered. Hands feel lighter for some reason. One of shopping bags missing. Tears are immediate.

3:02 pm—Retrace steps in tears. My tears cause daughter tears. Now have a crying, ice-cream melting three-year-old and missing shopping bag. Stares from strangers growing.

4:00 pm—Find shopping bag at Kid’s Foot Locker. Cashier placed behind register. Prayers of thanks ensue.

4:04 pm—Mother calls. “How was it?” she asks. “Not too bad. I only cried once.” “Just once? Well, I guess I’ll go with you next year!”

Now you know why I had to write something positive for my guest spot at Novel Spaces. Click here to check it out. And remind me to stay home next year!

I love my book cover and can't wait to show everybody! [...]

In case you guys missed me at Novel Spaces, check it out here.

In other news, I just got a look at my book cover for Unbeweavable, and I am in love with what they’ve done! I love, love, love it. (Did I mention I love it?)

I can’t wait to share it with you, but I need to wait until the beginning of the year. I don’t want to jump the gun on anything just in case changes have to be made. But I think the cover really does the book justice, and portrays the changes that my character goes through.

I know I’ve mentioned Unbeweavable several times and haven’t let you guys know a lot about the book. In the coming months, I plan to show my beautiful book cover and give you a sneak peek of what Unbeweavable is all about. It’s obvious that it has something to do with weave, but trust me, it’s more than just the weave. There’s a story there, I promise.

Mariah Carey is rocking her old hairstyle again. [...]

Source: divas.com

One of my favorite singers growing up was Mariah Carey. When I did dishes I would blast her CD sky high and try to break the windows in trying to sing her hit Emotions.

She started her career with her hair in long brown curls. Then she changed up and started to look like every other pop diva out there by changing her hair to blonder, straighter locks.

Source: divas.com

Honestly, she looks great with either look, and I’m all for a woman to change her hairstyle. One of my pet peeves is to look at old pictures of someone and to see that their hair hasn’t changed in ten years. But nothing was wrong with Mariah’s hair back in the day. It was beautiful just the way it was. I don’t know if it’s her husband, or her stylist but lately I’ve seen her rocking her old ‘do.

Source: Mariahcarey.com

Hair is like fashion. What was old, can become new again with a couple of tweaks. Makes me want to go through my old pictures and see if there are some old hairstyles that I can start rocking again. Hmmm….

Have a great weekend everybody and don’t forget to stop by Novel Spaces on Sunday!

Blogging at Novel Spaces on Sunday, November 8th. [...]

I’ll be blogging at Novel Spaces on November 8th.

Now I know what you’re thinking, November 8th–wait a minute that’s on a Sunday! Why would you be blogging on a Sunday?

I’ll tell you why. I didn’t check my calendar when they offered up the date!

But seriously, blogging on a Sunday has it’s benefits and I’ll share them with you.

1. Since most people don’t post anything on Sundays you get to read something new. Most of the author sites rarely post anything new on Sundays. So if you’re trolling through the internet, you can at least read a new piece that will tide you over until Monday.

2. You can take a break from NanoWriMo. Those of you who are participating in Nano this year can take a break from your busy schedule and stop by Novel Spaces. Why not? You’re already on your computer, and the break will give your muse a chance to rest before you hit another round of crazed typing.

3. You need new information for your blog post on Monday. All of us who blog have been there–you need something new to blog about. When you see my post on Novel Spaces this Sunday, you can take a different spin on it on your blog and give your opinion on the subject. (Provided you link back to my blog, of course.)

Okay, you guys get the point.

Sunday. November 8th. Be there.
