Focus!

It can be hard to focus on your own work at times. On Facebook and Twitter I read all the time about how well other authors are doing with their writing.

“Hoping to get 2,000+ written today!”

“Just met my November deadline! Book is off to editor!”

The Dog Ate My Novel…

Okay, so that’s not what really happened.

But I do have an excuse on why I won’t make my stupid lofty word-count goal.

This has been a very busy month. Between getting my daughter ready for school and other obligations I haven’t been hitting the book as hard as I planned. As of today, my [...]

40 Days and 40 Nights

So on this post I mentioned that my word count was zero. Nada. Zilch. And now my friends my word count is…drumroll please…20,292 words! I bet if I my desk was made of Butterfinger’s, I would be sitting there all [...]

So Close, Yet So Far Away…

I have written 41,221 words on my latest work-in-progress. I’m happy that I have so many words down on paper, but it’s not time for cheering yet. Technically, I’m only half-way there. (I like my novels to be about 85,000 words before I begin revisions.)

Half-way is the scary part of your novel where you’re [...]
